Today, I’m thrilled to share an exciting project that’s taking shape in our Las Vegas shop: a custom 1949 Willys Jeepster convertible. This unique build isn’t just about restoring a classic; it’s about reimagining it into something truly spectacular. So, buckle up as we dive into the details of this amazing custom vehicle build!
What Makes the 1949 Willys Jeepster Special?
The 1949 Willys Jeepster is a peculiar yet charming vehicle, and we’re taking it to a whole new level. The owner, who happens to be the proprietor of Senor Frogs, approached us with a vision. He wanted a full chassis build that incorporates an LS motor paired with a 4L80E transmission, complete with long-travel suspension. With 18 inches of travel on the front, this Jeepster is set to be a true off-road beast.
Custom Work Breakdown
- Engine: We’re integrating a powerful LS engine that promises to deliver exhilarating performance.
- Transmission: The 4L80E automatic transmission will ensure smooth gear shifts, enhancing the driving experience.
- Suspension: A long-travel suspension system is being installed, allowing for greater maneuverability on rugged terrains.
- Chassis: We’re fabricating a full custom chassis to support the unique design and performance needs of this build.
Behind-the-Scenes Challenges
Every build comes with its own set of challenges, and this Jeepster is no exception. Initially, the body we received was in poor condition, with significant rot. However, we’ve sourced a new body from Texas that’s expected to be in much better shape. The process of finding the right components and ensuring everything fits perfectly has been a learning experience for our team.
More Exciting Projects at Nostalgia Hot Rods
While the Jeepster is a standout, we have several other exciting projects in the shop. For instance, we’re currently working on a big wheel Buick that will lay low with a thousand-horsepower LT4 engine. The build includes moving the fenders for a more proportionate look around the oversized wheels.
Another notable project is a 1972 Porsche undergoing a radical transformation. We’ve widened the body significantly and are in the process of installing a twin-turbo engine. The goal? To create a stunning vehicle that will turn heads wherever it goes.
